Galaxy Research flagged the transfer of 100 bitcoins that were mined on 13 July 2010. The coins had sat untouched for more than sixteen years before being split across two fresh addresses holding 90 and 10 BTC.
The old address had seen prior activity, with roughly 894 BTC flowing through it earlier, yet these specific unspent outputs remained dormant. Galaxy stressed it tracks individual UTXOs rather than whole addresses.
The move sparked online debate over whether the coins were truly untouched. The firm replied that its database covers every historical movement and confirmed these particular outputs had never shifted since 2010.
Bitcoin.com News ran its own checks and reached the same conclusion, pointing to an early miner as the probable owner.
