On October 8, 12,267 BTC worth roughly $1.01 billion left a wallet tied to funds seized after the Bitfinex breach. The coins went to an unknown address that analysts suspect could be another government-controlled wallet or a staging point ahead of a Coinbase transfer.
This follows an earlier move of more than 6,200 BTC sent to Coinbase Prime in the previous two days. Bitcoin’s price quickly slipped under the $81,000 mark.
No official word has come from US agencies, so traders are left guessing whether the coins are headed for sale or simply being reorganized.
