Starknet introduced Shadow Accounts that generate separate persistent addresses for individual DeFi apps. These addresses draw funds from a private STRK20 pool, breaking the direct link to the user’s primary wallet.
On-chain balances and positions stay public, yet the connection between the shadow address and the original wallet is no longer visible. Users switch to private mode inside supported apps and can move assets back when needed.
The feature builds on the STRK20 privacy framework and private KYC demo both released in June. StarkWare expects the same approach to expand into liquidity provision, derivatives trading and NFT marketplaces.
