The Defend American Jobs PAC, backed by the crypto industry through Fairshake, has spent $11.4 million on ads supporting Republican John Husted and opposing Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s Senate contest. The filing was submitted to the FEC on Thursday.
Fairshake, funded by Coinbase and Ripple Labs, had pledged up to $30 million to keep Brown out of the Senate. The former Banking Committee chairman has been one of Congress’s most vocal critics of pro-crypto legislation.
Similar heavy spending occurred in 2024, when crypto-linked groups poured roughly $41 million against Brown, helping Republican Bernie Moreno win with 50.2% of the vote. Husted, appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to fill JD Vance’s seat, now benefits from the fresh wave of industry money.
