Constance Wang, ex-co-CEO of FTX, said most staff only learned about Sam Bankman-Fried’s relationship with Caroline Ellison after the exchange collapsed. Her X post reacted to the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming series “The Altruists,” which she said invented scenes of affection and aggression she never witnessed.
Wang, who served as COO from early 2019 and later became co-CEO until the November 2022 bankruptcy, recalled Ellison as a quiet, introspective colleague. She accused Netflix of exploiting the disaster that ruined many lives by framing it as a love story and told the streamer it should be ashamed.
She rejected the party-on-Bahamas narrative, noting the firm had under 200 employees who often worked 16–18 hour days. Wang added she was the last to leave the islands after Bankman-Fried’s extradition and lost everything tied to the company.
The eight-episode series premieres November 19, starring Julia Garner as Ellison, Anthony Boyle as Bankman-Fried, and Madison Hu as Wang.
