On October 2 Bitcoin climbed to $86,730, finally slicing through the heavy sell wall at $85,000 after nearly a week of failed attempts, according to Glassnode data.
Views among traders split quickly. Daan Crypto Trades flagged $85,000 as the line in the sand: a sustained drop back below it would invalidate the breakout. Michaël van de Poppe expects a quick retest of the $84,800–85,000 zone before another leg higher, while Crypto Tony set sights on $90,000 and $97,000.
Crypto Rover noted the move out of a descending wedge and referenced earlier warnings from Changpeng Zhao. SEC Chair Paul Atkins added that existing rules lag behind Bitcoin’s growth and need urgent overhaul.
October’s seasonal strength is no guarantee: the coin closed October 2025 down 3.69 %, ending six straight positive months. The market now waits to see whether the latest push holds or fades back into the prior range.
