SBI Group backs dtcpay to build Japan–Southeast Asia stablecoin bridge

18.09.2026 · Cryptonews

Japanese financial group SBI Group has taken a strategic stake in Singapore-based dtcpay as part of the company’s $25 million Series A round. The round was led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India in April 2026; SBI joined through SBI Ventures Asset and SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund.

dtcpay, founded by Alice Liu and Ben Zhao, connects stablecoins with traditional finance. Its platform lets merchants accept, hold and move stablecoins, offering faster and cheaper cross-border settlements than SWIFT. Products include point-of-sale stablecoin acceptance, WalletConnect integration and a Visa Infinite card.

The firm has already enabled stablecoin payments on Singapore’s Metro network and at hotels such as Capella Singapore, and works with BNB Chain. Fresh capital will be used to grow its merchant network and expand into additional regulated markets in the second half of 2026.

dtcpay’s CEO said the backing from SBI proves regulated stablecoin payments are already live infrastructure. SBI Ven Capital’s CEO called the deal the start of a strategic partnership to create a digital finance corridor between Japan and Southeast Asia.
