Speaking at the Robinhood summit, ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood urged investors to start watching AI agents instead of developers. She argued that agents capable of making autonomous payments will soon show which services and networks are actually in demand.
Wood noted that these agents no longer just answer questions — they act on behalf of users and spend money. Tracking their choices, she believes, could become a fresh way to spot spending trends, provided they have suitable payment tools.
Joseph Chalom, co-CEO of SharpLink and former BlackRock digital assets head, warned against closed systems. He said users must be able to move their agents between providers while keeping identity, financial data and permissions intact, and pointed to open blockchains like Ethereum as the solution.
As an example, Chalom described a user granting an agent a $500 limit for hotel bookings that can be revoked at any time. Robinhood introduced its own trading-focused AI agents in September.
