Bitcoin Advances Despite Fresh Rate Hikes From Fed and Bank of Japan

20.09.2026 · Cryptonews

On September 18 Bitcoin extended its rebound, climbing above $77,000 and touching nearly $78,400 intraday. The token gained 2.3 % over 24 hours and 1.5 % for the week.

Both central-bank moves had been largely priced in. The Fed lifted its target range by 25 basis points to 3.75–4 % on September 16, while the Bank of Japan raised its policy rate from 1 % to 1.25 % the following day. Ten-year Treasury yields eased toward 4.93 % and the yen weakened more than 1 %.

With no aggressive surprises materializing, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a $159.5 million net inflow the previous session. Traders began covering shorts clustered around $77,500–77,700 after the 7–2 vote at the Bank of Japan.

Should risk appetite keep improving, the next targets lie near $78,000 and the round-number level of $80,000.
